A royal affair II

An astrologer of the Royal Court held an unsafe position. If he came with bad news, it was because of the astrologer, not the stars.

Tycho Brahe predicted the death of his patron, King Frederick 2. But if he said it directly, he himself could be punished. Instead, he had to obscure the result in vague explanations.

This was one of the reasons, why Tycho Brahe was against royal birth horoscopes, and he would under no circumstances produce political forecasts.

Too many people's lives would depend on his predictions. None the less, he defended astrology on several occasions, from attacks made by f. i. the Church.

Through his whole life, Tycho Brahe worked with astronomy and astrology.

He was particularly interested in astrological weather forecasting . People knew about the Moon's effect on the tide, and it was assumed, that f. i. comets and meteors influenced the weather. Today, weather forecasting is still called meteorology.
